Participants:
Kaniv International Sculpture Symposium
In September 2021, Kaniv International Sculpture Symposium will open its doors for the tenth time.
The main goal of the symposium is to strengthen and develop the contemporary stone sculpture in Ukraine and abroad, supporting and encouraging the sculptors to bring together their best practices in one location, while discovering and launching new names. The Symposium is a contribution to promote Ukrainian and world sculpture, and foster the interaction between the object and its environment, presenting the three-dimensional art within arm’s reach.
This year, we will select the participants in two ways: two artists will be invited by the organizers, and the other three will be determined based on the open-call.
The topic of the Symposium is Kaniv as one of the picturesque historical and cultural sites of Ukraine that has inspired generations of artists. However, preparing your sculpture project, you should not take this literally but rather look at the city as if at a prism that can be dispersive, reflecting or deflecting depending on your perspective as an artist.
